The past two weeks my team and I have been in Palacaguina, Nicaragua!

Here in Palacaguina, we are partnering with a local church and staying in their ministry house! My team has a cute small house all to ourselves and it has been so fun getting to live their together! Our average day here looks like going out to different sectors (which kind of work as neighborhoods) to evangelize. We have seen four people accept Jesus as their Savior while out evangelizing! Girls on my team have done a wonderful job of stepping out and sharing the gospel with people. It has been a beautiful thing to watch! Continue to pray for us as we go out and share the gospel with those who have never heard!

Here is a picture of a little boy who accepted Jesus!

My team also helps the church with different programs they have going on. For instance, we join in the church’s new street church ministry. One night a week, some people from the church get into a van and go to a different part of town to hold a church service there for people in the community! It is sweet to get to play with the kids and bring church to a place that can’t attend a service.

We also had the opportunity to lead worship and teach at the weekly youth service. Pictured below is Emily teaching! One of the main spiritual problems here is a lack of freedom. Nicaragua is a very legalistic culture, so if you are a Christian, you tend to be very works based and lack a sense of freedom in Christ. Our goal while being here is to bring a knowledge of freedom and be an example to the youth here that following Jesus is fun! Emily did a great job of portraying this in her message to the church’s youth group!

My team also helps teach the kids Sunday School classes in the church! Here is a picture of us playing musical chairs after Sunday school!

We had the opportunity to attend and lead worship for the church’s women’s retreat! Emily and I got to lead worship in Spanish!

Lastly, we helped with a Christmas children’s program at the church! This is a picture of the kids hitting the pinata we made them!

Ministry looks a lot like living every day in community and making disciples as you go. We drink lots of coffee and make lots of pinatas and talk about Jesus with a lot of people! I have been learning about how beautiful simplicity is; life is simple here, but it is so beautiful! I appreciate your prayers as we continue to do life here in Palacaguina!
