Welcome back to the blog, people!  

It has been a while since I have posted on here. Well, it has been a while since I have thought about the World Race, if I’m being honest.  

If you’re new here or we have met within the past 3 years, I will give a quick recap. In 2018, I left the US and traveled to Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica over 9 months to partner with overseas missionaries and spread the gospel…thus, the World Race Gap Year. The race changed my life, and I haven’t been the same since. (If you’re interested in any of my old blog posts, they are available below)! 

I got back to the states in May of 2019. Over the past three years I have been working on my bachelor’s degree, and I officially graduated this May with my B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in theological studies from Liberty University (fan the flames)!!  

I have been working full time at the Jerry Fallwell Library on campus for the past 6 months and until just a few weeks ago, my plan was to continue working for the university while I began graduate school. This pretty much brings you up to date thus far.  

If you’ve been following the Lord for a little while, you should know by now that Isaiah 55:8-9 rings true in each of our lives, that His ways are not our ways, they are much much higher. This has been a constant theme in my life over the past few years and I have learned to (most of the time through white knuckles and teary eyes) to be obedient even when I have no idea what it looks like. So, when the opportunity to squad lead for gap year came up, I knew that God was stirring something within me. After a lot of prayer and wise counsel, I have concluded that the Lord is inviting me to take this next step in obedience to Him.  

And that is why you are all here reading my (coming back from retirement) blog!!! Because…. 

I’m going back on the world race!! I will be gone for another 9 months. This time I will be traveling to Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Eswatini, and South Africa! And this time around… I will be leading the trip!!!I am a Squad Leader for my route. Which means, I will be on a leadership team with a mentor (who leads the squad from the states) and most likely 2 other squad leaders. Squad leaders are the only form of leadership that is physically with the squad for the entirety of the race. I will be leading, discipling, serving, and loving a handful of 17–20 year-olds this next year. A very exciting yet humbling thought. 

I go to Georgia on August 15th to begin training and we fly out of the states on October 15th

Lastly, I would like to note that the Lord works in mysterious ways. I would have never thought that I would be going back on the race, especially not leading a gap squad. But over the past few weeks God has given me a passion for this next step. There is a long list of things I would have done differently for my race, and the past 3 years have been a time where God has continued to soften my heart and grow me in relationship with Him. I hear God calling me to share these things with the next generation. Equip them to follow God’s call whatever that looks like, and to lead by example.  

Please pray for me because this is a heavy calling. But if I know anything, I know that God uses my weakness to show His strength, and I will give Him all the glory.  

I will be posting updates regularly on this blog as I prepare to leave the country and while I’m overseas.

    How exhilarating it is to hear of your world travels. I can only dream of such adventure. But, alas, I could never leave the farm for more than a day les the livestock perish. Nonetheless, I envy the grand adventure you are to undertake. Of course, I will miss you at university. However, I am confident that your travels will yield a great reward. I will follow along and wait for your correspondence.
